Job Description

Oversee all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of the
Company’s data protection policies in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Provide and support the legal function to meet legal, regulatory and business requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists in the identification, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s data protection policiesand procedures and controls with regard to safeguarding customer information in coordination with his/herimmediate supervisor.
  • Develop data-related policies and procedures that comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010(PDPA), Personal Data Protection Standards 2015 and Code of Practice on Personal Protection for the Insurance Industry.
  • Ensure compliance with and coordinate with key stakeholders within the Company to comply with Bank Negara Malaysia’s Management of Customer Information and Permitted Disclosures Policy Document.
  • Ensure that the Company has and maintains appropriate data protection consent and authorisation forms and data protection/privacy notices and materials.
  • Be the first point of contact for enquiries from staff on data protection, data/customer information breaches and subject access requests, providing them with appropriate advice and guidance.
  • Carry out on-going data protection and management of customer information training to all staff, agentsand where necessary, third parties/service providers.
  • Carry out investigations to ascertain the root causes of a data/customer information breach and determine appropriate remedial actions to prevent future recurrence.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in providing legal advice on matters relating to general insurance, company law, contract law, landlaw and probate matters.
  • Advise on changes in the law and new legislation affecting the Company or the general insurance industry.
  • Prepare, review and update general insurance documents, forms and terms and conditions governing the Company's products and services.
  • Assist to draft/review various types of agreements, letters, terms and conditions.
REQUIREMENT:-
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 5 year(s) of marketing working experience in general insurance or related field.
  • Familiar with the requirements of the PDPA and possess the required skills and knowledge of the PDPA in order to carry out the responsibilities of the job as prescribed.
  • Good drafting skills, proactive and creative, able to communicate clearly and work independently with minimal supervision.
