BSIB Colleagues Helps Prepare for the launch of Persatuan STAND's new cafe
In February 2019, Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Welfare Foundation presented a cheque amounting to RM25,000 to Persatuan STAND (“STAND”) as part of the foundation’s cause to support non-profit organisations that are engaged in social welfare activities in developing countries and regions. As a follow-up to this, 14 of our colleagues from 10 departments took time off to clean the windows, wash the toilets, sweep and mop the floor, in preparation for the launch of their new café. In addition, we donated some books from the book donation drive we organised in April 2019.
Persatuan STAND is a social enterprise that provides training and employment to young adults with special needs in a food production business. This is to enable them to acquire the necessary skills to earn a decent living as an employee. This will restore self-worth, dignity, and recognition of their potential in contributing to society.
