Thank You & Goodbye! - Ryuta Umayahara's Farewell
After 7 years of working in Berjaya Sompo, Mr Ryuta Umayahara, from our Claims department, make his next career move to Sompo Indonesia PT Indomobil. He shared his experience with us before he bid farewell.

1.    Can you share a little bit about your first role at Berjaya Sompo Insurance until your last post?
I was in charge of technical advisor of Motor when I joined in 2012. In 2015, my head of department was transferred to other country. Subsequently, I was put in charge to support the entire Claims department.

2.    How do you feel you have grown, personally and professionally, since being with the company?
Yes, I have grown a lot, especially with my team members from the Claims department.

3.    By your definition, what is the best way to achieve great teamwork?
I think, the most important thing would be it is communications. I started the team meeting the managers monthly after I joined. I made the environment so that managers continuously talk with their staff.

4.    Tell us an unforgettable experience you had during your time here.
I had the honour of being the Vice President of the Sports Club Committee in 2015.
This was a really great experience (though very busy at that time!), working together with Committee members from various departments towards the common goal of how to make the event more enjoyable to the staffs. I also remember the performance during the annual dinner in 2016 where we made the band sing a song with Japanese class members. That was was a lot of fun!

One ongoing activity during my time here is the Japanese Class, which we’ve held since 2012. I was very happy that many of the Malaysian friends were very keen on learning the Japanese language and culture.  I really enjoyed sharing time with those who attended the class, so that the class has been going on for almost 7 years! This experience is truly unforgettable for me.

5.    What are some parting words of wisdom you would like to share with us?
Please always think of what is the best for the CUSTOMERS; when you make new products, when you pick up call from customers, when you make an estimate, and when you are handling claims. Lastly, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to each one of you for your kind support, cooperation, and friendship.
