1974
The Company started as an overseas branch office for one of the international insurance companies.
1991
The Company officially changed its name to Berjaya General Insurance Sdn. Bhd.
1997
Converted to a public company.
1999
Became 100% owned by Berjaya Capital Berhad in 1999.
2007
Sompo Japan acquired a 30% equity stake and entity. We changed our name to Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad to reflect the strategic alliance between Berjaya Group and Sompo Group.
2010
Sompo Japan transferred shares to Sompo Japan Asia Holdings Pte. Ltd. (currently known as Sompo Holdings (Asia) Pte. Ltd.)
2011
Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad became a 70% owned subsidiary of Sompo Holdings Asia (formerly known as Sompo Japan Asia Holding, Inc).
