Sustainability, also known as ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), is a trending topic in the corporate world. Multinational companies are actively pursuing impactful initiatives to either improve society and the environment or meet regulatory requirements. Berjaya Sompo Insurance (BSI) acknowledges that we are in the early stages of our ESG journey and emphasises the importance of launching engaging and collaborative programs to raise awareness and gain support from employees and stakeholders.

Aligned with our core values of Ownership and Trust, our approach to ESG is dedicated to embedding these values. Our internal initiatives are designed to promote environmental sustainability, community well-being, and inclusivity.

We believe that awareness and education are vital to establish the right foundation for our ESG efforts. For instance, we offer training and development opportunities to members of our Sustainability Steering Committee. This training equips them with the knowledge required to develop the ESG framework and prepares them for upcoming sustainability requirements, including disclosure.

 

Leadership support and resource allocation are crucial for fostering a sustainable ESG culture. This approach, supported by employees, not only enhances employer branding but also boosts engagement and retention, resulting in increased productivity and improved business performance. BSI is dedicated to demonstrating care for employees and their families. Success in ESG initiatives owes much to the hard work and collaboration of the ESG working committee and active employee participation, making these efforts highly rewarding and impactful.
